REGISTRIES

All of my dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). Over time, it is has been my experience that the United Kennel Club (UKC) is sometimes more beginner friendly when it comes to performance competitions. For this reason, Apple is registered with UKC in addition to the other registries.

To promote as many chances as possible for human-dog partnership in competition, all puppies acquired from Einhorn Aussies will be eligible for AKC, UKC, and ASCA registry.

HEALTH

I believe that basic health is the foundation for a long life of working relationship and ultimate companionship. I use a mixture of genetic testing and veterinary testing (regular check-ups, preventative vaccinations, eye exams, and hip/elbow x-rays) to determine which dogs meet the minimum requirement of my breeding program.

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) is the organization I use for eye, hip, and elbow testing. I find using Paw Print Genetics to be the easiest way to test for a variety of genetic diseases and mutations, and it is my go-to test company for genetic testing.

RESCUE

Many times, people come to breeders looking for companion dogs. I am interested in producing smart, versatile, high-octane competition dogs with good off-buttons. The off-button part is great, but sometimes handling a high energy bred-to-work dog isn’t the best match for a family with young children or a first-time dog owner. In those cases, looking for a match from a reputable rescue is a suggested option. Here are some rescues that I’ve worked with in the past and recommend.

In addition, I suggest visiting your local animal shelter. From past experience, many times both purebred Aussies and Aussie mixes come into shelters on a regular basis. Many of them are not listed on websites, so contacting or visiting your local shelter is recommended. Many shelter dogs are already housebroken and are immediately ready to become a loving part of your family!
